About the Course
Winter is the perfect time to head indoors and learn how to crochet - you'll make yourself a very useful and stylish tote bag in the process. We'll be using a lovely yarn that's made from recycled fabric and comes in a wonderful range of colours.
This course is suitable for absolute beginners, experienced beginners and anyone else who fancies it!
In the first 2.5 hour session you will learn the basic techniques and stitches to get started with crochet, and will be guided through the process of starting to make your tote bag. You'll learn how to hold the yarn, make chain stitches, create treble stitches, and interpret a simple pattern.
During the week between sessions you'll have the opportunity to carry on with your bag at home if you wish, and you'll be given access to some online video tutorials to help you along with the pattern.
In the second 2.5 hour session you'll use your new crochet skills to continue the bag project with assistance, following the pattern, and will learn the techniques needed to finish the bag.
Everyone learns at their own pace, and although it is perfectly feasible that an absolute beginner may complete the tote bag within 5 hours, you should not expect a complete project if this is your first go. You can be assured however that you will have time to make good progress with the project and will be fully equipped with all the skills and experience needed to finish it (with video tutorials and continued help and advice available to you if you get stuck).
A maximum of six places are available, so please book early to avoid disappointment.
Note - This workshop would be challenging for young children, therefore the minimum age is 12 years.
Cancellation policy - if you choose to cancel your place at least 14 days in advance of the workshop, a full refund will be given. If you choose to cancel your place within 14 days of the workshop, we will try to fill your place and provide you with a refund, however if it is not possible to fill your place we will be unable to refund the cost of the workshop.
