Richard was very welcoming and made us feel at ease. We enjoyed the opportunity to hand build and also try throwing pots on the wheel. Richard was patient and took time to explain, demonstrate and encouraged our own creative talents. We're clearly not naturals but learnt a lot and thoroughly enjoyed our day. A fantastic opportunity not to be missed!

Such fun! Really enjoyed our day. My daughter and I were engrossed from beginning to end, and found the whole day so interesting and relaxing. And we devoured the delicious soup and bread too! Richard is very patient and a great teacher - he clearly loves what he does and it shows. Would highly recommend for couples, friends or parents with a creative child. Would love to return, to throw some more!
Sam Read - - #18942
The experience with Richard was really really great! It was a calm and tranquil atmosphere, very informal and explorative. Richard gives clear and concise directions, yet still allows you to be creative. He’s very friendly and approachable. We learnt two pottery techniques and it just made us want to go back. Will definitely recommend to others, and go back to do it myself!! The experience would be a perfect gift for others!! The soup was also fabulous!

Had a great day with six of us in Richard's studio. Lots of fun and we all came out enthused with some pretty decent attempts on the wheel - even if 5 /6 of us were left handed ( a bit of a challenge on a right handed wheel). Richard was very calm and patient with us all and has a great depth of knowledge. Highly recommended and can't wait to see the fired results.

I thoroughly enjoyed my day with Richard learning how to throw and hand building. Richard was an excellent teacher. He was patient and catered the lesson to my personal needs and aims. I'd highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to learn a new skill, or build on their existing skills. Richard made the experience memorable and enjoyable, he has inspired me to create more pots and further my new skill. Thank you for a great day!

Had a wonderful day potting, which sped by, building a coil pot along with the opportunity to throw some pots on the wheel. Richard was informative, patient, supportive and interesting to talk to. He provided lots of tea and a lovely lunch. Highly recommend as a gift for someone or to treat yourself to something different.

This was a birthday present for my husband, Trevor, and it was a big hit! Richard's patience and excellent guidance has spurred Trevor on to sign up for a course. Although I was there mainly to accompany Trevor, I really enjoyed the experience. Richard is so knowledgeable and interesting and he is an expert teacher so we both managed to make some pots. We can't wait to come back and glaze them and we will want to sign up to the Raku day in May.
In addition, there was plenty of tea and coffee on hand and the soup at lunchtime was delicious. All in all it was a great day and we shall definitely recommend the experience to our friends.

Richard created a relaxed environment where we all felt comfortable to do our own thing and enjoy the day. It was great fun and I made a vase and 2 dishes. Definitely recommend giving it a try.

Excellent day for novice grandad and granddaughter. Richard showed such patience with a 6year old and enabled her to enjoy and learn over the whole day. She and I both felt successful and managed to create something by the end of the day. My granddaughter especially enjoyed the wheel.

Just had a fantastic day, really enjoyed it. Richard is a very patient, skillful and knowledgable teacher. He was even able to get a left hander to throw a pot right handed, which was a challenge for me and probably him but he didnt show it. I cannot rate this course or the lovely lunch especially the beetroot highly enough.
If your considering this course but not sure, go for it. Its relaxing, informative and fun. I highly recommend it.

Response from Potterydayz:Hello Kathie
I had a fantastic day learning to hand build and throw with Richard in his studio. I came to the workshop wanting to learn how to properly throw whilst also identifying and fixing some bad habits I had developed! Richard was fabulous, a knowledgeable and hands on teacher, he talked me through some hand building warm ups before moving on to throwing techniques and tips. Then whilst I was throwing he was super patient and helped me actually throw some ‘proper’ pots! The whole day was relaxing and I have learnt so much in such a short period. If you are unsure if this is the workshop for you – don’t be!

I had a fantastic day's workshop with Richard in his studio. I've been learning pottery and wanted some more intensive tuition on throwing. Richard is a brilliant teacher, very patient and expressive, and the environment was really relaxing, so I felt like I was able to learn a great deal in a short period. It really helped me gain confidence. I really appreciated the tea and homemade soup for lunch, too. Oh and Richard also plays mean blues harmonica! Thanks so much.

Response from Potterydayz:Thank you Denny for those kind comments. It was a pleasure to help you along on the way to fulfill your pottery adventures. Keep up the throwing and keep in touch. You never know- the Potters Indie Blues Band may be yet be born. Richard
I loved this workshop and can say it’s the best tuition for throwing a pot I’ve had. Richard is very visual In his teaching, clearly demonstrating with his hands how to use them as effective pottery tools. This for me was so helpful and I left the class having learnt something’s very valuable about pottery and it’s potential. The chat and lunch was great too, thoroughly recommend this to everyone.
Sue shields - - #14733

Response from Potterydayz:Thank you very much for the kind review- it was a pleasure to enjoy the day with you both- see you again soon.
Thank you Richard for a brilliant day. A really thorough course with plenty of excellent tuition and guidance. Learning about the two pottery methods (hand building and throwing) and getting the chance to get 'hands on' and creative finished the day off nicely.
Even as beginners we even managed to sculpt a Mediterranean thingy and a salt pig! Thanks pal ;o) !

Fantastic day...relaxed and welcoming environment and expert tuition with knowledgeable and interesting conversation thrown in. I really felt immersed in the artisanal craft and hopefully have a few half decent pots to show for my efforts.

I booked the day as a surprise for my girlfriends birthday and had a quality time with Richard. It was like spending the day with a friend you’ve known for years. He’s a brilliant teacher with a lot of patience and is happy for you to make plenty of mistakes! The homemade food was excellent too. Thanks Richard!

We had so much fun! I really can't recommend this enough – Richard is a brilliant teacher and fantastic company too. And coffee and lunch were both top notch (v important). It was a perfect birthday present and I'm sure we'll be buying vouchers for friends and family for years to come. We came away feeling enthused and inspired – and can't wait to get our hands on some more clay. Thanks Richard!
Camilla McLean - - #11218
Richard is a highly skilled, patient and fun teacher, and as a beginner, I would highly recommend this course to learn or even improve on throwing pots! I really enjoyed the experience and would definitely go again!
Beth Wyles - - #10975
I recently took part in the pottery course, with Richard an excellent teacher. He was so patient, as a first timer throwing pots is not as easy as it may look, but within a couple of goes we all had usable pots! Fantastic! You would think having the lesson with 3 newbies would be a nightmare but it was taken in his stride, with all of us having a joyful and memorable lesson.
Definitely highly recommend, will be attending again!
Hannah Wyles - - #10955
I really enjoyed my time learning to throw. Richard is an excellent teacher and I actually made some pots! I would definitely recomend this course.
