About the Course
This year’s retreat will be based on the theme of woodland, forests and all things tree related. The wonderful rough textures of bark and the endless variety of natural colours and leaf patterns will inspire and inform our samples. Students will learn how to use a variety of mixed media techniques on textiles including foiling, impressions, printing and embellishing with stitch. learn how to make delicate filigree leafy layers using soluble film. We will experiment with a variety of thread thickness and woodland colours using hand and machine embroidery. We will build a piece of textured embroidery for peeping into a mysterious leafy world.
With Sweet Nothings Retreat being well known for it’s rural beauty, and in an area with fabulous light quality, what better place to come for some artistic inspiration?
