Course Start Dates
Saturday 28th October 2017

This course is taught online as well as on a one to one basis at my workshop - if you have the tools or I can advise you on where to purchase the necessary tools. Tools provided at my workshop.

Sessions can be booked in 4 and 8 hour blocks but can then be broken down into bite sized two hour sessions.
This helps with dealing with specific issues, time to practice and a revisit in the next session before progressing.
While you can have whichever suits you best, this structure has proved the most successful so far.

Spend the day learning how to flint knapp like our ancestors during the Stone Age. On this course you will learn to shape a knife blade or arrowhead using the pressure flake method. The arrowheads are preformed so no need to learn how to percussion knapp. You will also learn how to attach the handle to the blade. Handles can be made from wood or antler.

What's included in the price?

All tools and materials are provided. Please bring your own lunch - tea, coffee and biscuits provided.
No places will be booked without payment being made on the day of booking.

An absolute beginner but no worries here - 2 days makes it much easier as you have loads of time. Made a knife and an arrowhead. Stuart is a great teacher. Highly recommended.

A knife and an arrowhead in 2 days. Very therapeutic and great to see the end products emerge from the pieces of flint. Loved it. Highly recommended.

An excellent 2 days - had done a bit of knapping before so was able to hone my skills and made a knife and arrowhead. Great fun - highly recomended. Great teacher.

Was not sure how I would do but did not have to worry - Stuart is very patient and very encouraging. A knife emerged slowly but surely. Highly recommended.

Great fun time - lovely knife and arrowhead emerge from a piece of flint - stone age techniques applied so a bit of history in the making! Course ran over 2 days. Loved it. Highly recommended
