About the Course

Build your own sea kayak in a week! Wooden sea kayaks are lighter and prettier than any other kind of boat (in our opinion). Made of very thin plywood with fibreglass reinforcement, we work with modern techniques to create a fast and responsive boat, individually fitted to you.

The boats we build are light enough to lift with one hand, go fast, handle well and look beautiful. You will be the envy of the loch and shoreline.

We teach everything you need to know, so no need to know anything about boatbuilding. You'll also leave with enough knowledge and skills to look after your boat, or build another one if it takes your fancy!

Each participant will leave with a boat of their own to take home, so be sure to bring your roof bars, or let us know and we can assist with transport if necessary.

The week takes place on a croft on the isle of Mull.

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

What's included in the price?

The course fee includes all material costs to build a boat each. It also includes all accommodation and food for the week. To keep the price as low as possible accommodation is camping, we can sort more luxurious arrangements locally for an extra fee if desired.
