About the Course

These intermediate level weekend workshops provide an opportunity to add to your repertoire of techniques with the support of an experienced jewellery maker. They are ideal for students who have completed some jewellery courses or those who are attending other classes and want more time to complete their projects.

Who is this course for
This course is aimed at intermediate and advanced students who have a basic knowledge of jewellery making. Eg. Jewellery taster course, one or more terms of Jewellery course etc. Course is not for complete beginners.
During this course students will work on a set project to extend their skills and explore new techniques.

What does this course cover
Students should be able to produce a finished piece of jewellery, depending on the undertaken project.
Students have the opportunity to try different techniques, improve existing skills and acquire new ones.
Be able to design and plan all the necessary steps to make a basic piece of jewellery.

What will it be like
Continuous evaluation is an integral part of the course. This is achieved through one-to-one discussions between the tutor and the student and group discussions during the day.

What else do you need to buy or do
Continually looking at all kinds of jewellery and drawing the ideas i.e. keeping a sketchbook or scrapbook.
The college will provide brass and copper. Students can use silver, gold, precious and semi-precious stones, beads and any other materials they wish to use. Students are advised to buy the necessary materials before the start of the course.
