Introduction to willow sculpture online virtual workshops with Jacqueline Rolls



Create a selection of items to decorate your home and garden, a lovely introduction to willow sculpture for anyone wishing to make a couple of small items. And a great way to connect with family and friends via a virtual workshop space. using Zoom or an alternative of your choice

Choose 1 or 2 items to make during this workshop.
Mini sculptures include hearts and flowers dragonflies, butterflies, bird feeders, bees, fish.
Basic basketry - Small leaf or fish platter small Catalonian tray.
Christmas decorations trees, reindeer, star, mini angels, etc

The online workshop is suitable for teenagers, adults, and children with adult support You will need to have good hand dexterity and strength.

What will I provide?

I will send you the willow that you need to complete the project and a document with instructions on how to prepare the willow in advance of the workshop as well as some hints and tips etc.
Please note that you will need to allow time for the willow to be delivered. and to soak the willow. Buff (stripped) willow takes 2 days to prepare Brown willow (with bark, suitable for going outside) takes 5 -6 days to soak.

What you will need

You will need
A computer or tablet with a camera and microphone.
A pair of secateurs or wire cutters/ pliers to cut the willow and plenty of room to move around
( willow is long it's easier to knock things over)
A tool such as a bradawl or a screwdriver with a small end is needed for the dragonfly, butterfly, flower and basketry workshops.

You will need somewhere to soak the willow e.g. a bath, old paddling pool, pond, makeshift container covered in plastic sheeting, large bucket/ tub. Some large towels/ or cotton sheet.
