About the Course

Come to the Sylva Wood Centre and learn basic woodworking skills under the expert eye of our Head of Wood School Joseph Bray. You will make a simple yet attractive small table.

A simple table is the perfect introduction to basic woodworking skills our round topped table includes the ubiquitous mortice and tenon joint. You will be provided with some part machined components and use a variety of hand skills to joint and assemble them into a table frame. The course tutor will guide you in the marking out and hand cutting of both mortice & tenon and halving joints using home-grown hardwoods. The table top will give you the opportunity to experience edge jointing and shaping processes.
