About the Course

Release your inner creative on our Introduction to soap-making experience run by Edinburgh designer-maker Jenny Smith of The Scottish Soapworks.

On our Introduction to soap-making experience you will begin by learning about the properties of our organic glycerine soap and selection of essential oils. You will then chop, melt, blend and pour your own soap into shapes and sizes of your choice. As your soap is setting, you will select your chosen decorations and packaging, and then gift wrap your soaps in your individual style ready to take home.

We also offer a full day soap-making workshop where you will learn how to make soap using two methods: traditional cold-pressed soap during the morning session, followed by glycerine melt and pour soap in the afternoon.

Refreshment breaks - featuring locally sourced products - are an important part of The Arienas Collective experience. We are fortunate to have a fantastic range of independent shops and producers nearby who we love to support. We will start with a welcome tea or coffee served with a selection of cake or pastries. Our breaks allow time to socialise, make new friends, and chat to the artists.

Our artists and designers will support you throughout the day offering one-to-one guidance and tips on design, as well as encouraging collaboration through sharing of ideas within the group. They will do their best to answer any questions you may have.

The Arienas Collective experiences are run from a supportive and welcoming home environment in the Edinburgh New Town. Spaces are limited so our artists and designer-makers can offer hands-on help and support. All equipment is provided, as are all the materials you will need. Just turn up, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in creating something unique.

The price includes all materials and refreshments, and of course you get to take all the products your have created home to enjoy and inspire you, or to give to family and friends as unique gifts.

All our experiences are also available as private group bookings.

Please note that The Arienas Collective experiences are run from a first-floor open plan reception room and unfortunately we do not have lift access. Please let us know of any skin or food allergies when booking.

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. The voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
