About the Course

Learn to make your own beautiful fine silver jewellery from Art clay silver - no previous experience is necessary.

Silver clay is one of a range of metal clays. All metals clays are fine metal powder mixed with a binder to create malleable clay that can be moulded, textured, rolled and cut out. The clay is then dried before being fired with a torch (which can be done using an inexpensive torch at home) or with a kiln to produce a solid piece of metal. We will be demonstrating firing with a torch so you know what you can achieve in a home environment.

Silver clay when fired, results in 99.9% fine silver pieces, which you can send for hall-marking at a UK assay office if you wanted to as it is fine enough silver to do so.

Maximum number on workshop is 6 people. This class is suitable for adults only - no under 16's please.

One pack of clay is enough to make 2 small pendants or charms, 2 small pairs of earrings, or one larger pendant.

If you have a design in mind, I will be very happy to help you before the course to make sure you have a suitable design, the right amount of silver art clay, and appropriate findings to finish your pieces of jewellery.

A small selection of jewellery finding (eg jump-rings, earring wires, and cord for pendants) will also be included so you can take home fully finished pieces - you may want to change these at home for different findings which are more suited to your finished jewellery as the findings supplied are simply to allow you to wear your jewellery pieces straight away.

Additional silver art clay packs will be available to order in advance - an email will be sent to you after booking to see if you would like to pre-order any additional silver art clay which you may want to use on the day to make additional items or to take home with you. Great one day workshop which was really hands-on and I was able to go home with 2 lovely pairs of silver earrings. Sally is very helpful and an excellent communicator and the whole day just flew by. Would definitely recommend this course to anyone who wants to have a go at using silver art clay.

Response from Sally Evans Photography:

Thank you for your review Elisa - your earrings were amazing and I am really pleased you love them! I hope to see you again soon.
Kind regards, Sally

A fantastic day spent under Sally’s expert tuition on the Silver Clay Jewellery Workshop. Sally is extremely knowledgeable and friendly and made the day a fun and rewarding experience. It was amazing to be part of the ‘magic’ that unfolded over the course of the day and wear jewellery home that I had made. Very satisfying indeed and can’t wait to get kitted out to create more jewellery at home (Sally offers great advice on how to keep costs to a minimum). Go and experience the magic for yourself, you’ll have a great day!

Thank you for your review Beccy - I am so glad you enjoyed your day and are going to do more silver art clay making at home. It really is magic isn't it?! :)
Hope to see you again soon, Sally

Excellent day. Sally is very friendly and has so many tips and hints to share in addition to the structure that ensures everyone makes something to be proud of. She offers so many ideas of how to set up cheaply at home without spending on specialist equipment. She also has boxes full of stuff to have a go with, so things were covered that wont always be offered on a beginners day. Also loads of different polishes and equipment that again often dont get hands on experience with. Def feel i can continue with this with what i learnt.

Thank you for your review of the workshop Lyn - it was a action-packed day and I am really glad you enjoyed it as well as feeling you learnt lots to implement at home.
Hope to see you again, Sally

This workshop is a great opportunity to learn all the basics to produce your first piece of silver clay jewellery. Sally is an encouraging and knowledgeable tutor who explains each step of the process in a clear way. The length of the workshop and small class size allows time to learn and make without feeling rushed. Good value for money and great fun. Come on your own or with a friend to enjoy a relaxed yet productive day.

The beginners silver clay workshop was a great introduction to get me started using metal clay. Sally was great at answering questions about the possibilities when using the silver clay and was really good at creating a fun and friendly environment. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who has thought of using this medium but isn’t sure where to start. A fun day that was really great value.
