About the Course
No experience necessary.
Silver clay is relatively a new medium in jewellery making and you might have seen an episode of MAKE! Craft Britain on BBC, showcasing silver clay recently.
Art Clay Silver is made up of 92% recycled silver, 8% binder and water. When fired ACS pieces turn into “Fine Silver” which is .999 pure silver and has more silver particles than .925 sterling silver. ACS will shrink approximately 8-10% when fired.
During the workshop you will go through the following steps:
Drying and Smoothing
And you will learn:
Rolling & cutting, texturing, layering, pre-fire finishing, post fire finishing, polishing, and if desired oxidising to create ‘antiquing’ effect.
I like to give full attention to all the attendees and therefore my workshops are generally only for 4-5 people.
Spaces are limited and booking is essential.
Please contact me if you have any questions and find out about the alternative dates and places you can have the workshop.
Tuesday workshops start at 6pm and Saturday workshops start 1pm.
A bit about your instructor:
I am a jewellery artist. I was born in Turkey and now live in Whitley Bay and work from my studio at the Biscuit Box Studios in Newcastle upon Tyne. I have been designing and making jewellery professionally for some time now. I have a background in design and 3D modelling and teaching these skills. I like to combine traditional silversmithing techniques with metal clay techniques. I like to utilize centuries old techniques such as mokume-gane, keum-boo and enamelling to fuse different materials together to create something unique. I am a member of the Network Artists North East, the Association for Contemporary Jewellery, and The Craft Council Directory. I am also registered with Edinburgh Assay Office where my creations are hallmarked.
