About the Course
Join Catherine in her large rural studio in fair west Cornwall for an exciting introduction to Raku Fired Ceramics. Raku is an ancient Japanese firing technique which literally means enjoyment.
Glazed pots are removed from the kiln whilst red hot and smoked in sawdust to give the distinctive crackle effects.
Day one: You will create 6-8 hand built bowls, pots and tiles using pinching and coiling techniques.
Day two: Glaze and Raku fire your pieces ready to take home with you.
This course is suitable for beginners and those with some experience of working with clay. Small groups of no more that 6 mean that you get individual expert tuition.
Catherine has over 25 years experience of making hand built Raku fired ceramics and is a thoughtful and relaxed teacher who will ensure you have several successful Raku fired ceramics to take home at the end of the course.
