About the Course
Come to the beautiful Stonehouse Studios in the lovely rural setting of Drayton Bassett for an introduction with experienced teacher and sculptor Karen Bird.
This course will give you an understanding of several types of clay and various methods of hand-building pots.
On the first half day you will make several pinch pots and coiled pots. And if time allows you can have a go on the potter’s wheel. You will be shown decorating techniques such as incised and impressed patterns, scraffito and slip decoration.
These pots are then fired and dried so that by the second half day of the course your fired pots will be ready to decorate using oxides and glazes and you will be shown different methods of applying these.
