About the Course

This course is project based and suitable for anyone wishing to understand and learn the process of taking a design idea to a finished garment. Although childrenswear blocks are used the same principles can then be applied to menswear, womenswear and gender neutral patterns .This short course gives you a good basic grounding in pattern cutting. Each term we have a different project. All blocks and patterns are drafted from a standard aged 4 years old block. The 6 week Autumn term project will be a skirt and/or trouser dungaree. The 4 week Spring term project is a pinafore and the 5 week Summer term project is overalls. Hand outs are taken from the class book 'Metric pattern cutting for childrenswear and babywear' by Winifred Aldrich 4th edition. No previous pattern cutting experience is required.
