About the Course
Learn to cut accurate, bespoke, single mounts using a handheld mount cutter. We'll calculate sizes so you can fit your textiles or pictures into readymade or existing frames.
In the afternoon we'll go on to look at cutting box mounts which will introduce depth and shadow around your work. Please bring several textiles (nothing bigger than A3 please) so you have a choice of what to work on.
Suitable for complete beginners.
Please book directly with Linda Onions of Chain Stitch Reaction via the link above but contact Lynne (the tutor - 07908 961 229) with any questions about the content.
I also run workshops and give individual tuition in Chichester and the South East. Please see my other listings on Craft Courses.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
Two sheets of mountboard, use of an individual handheld mount cutter and all the tools and other materials that might be needed.
There will homemade cake and plenty of tea and coffee. Please bring a packed lunch.
Please bring several textiles or pictures (so you have a choice of what to work on) and matching threads. If you already have any frames you would like to use bring them with you. Frames need enough depth to display your work without touching the glass, if in doubt bring them along.
Lynne's an excellent teacher - we all came away from the day with skills we can use. The venue's great and so was the company of the other students.

A thoroughly informative and enjoyable course (Float Mounting). Lynne is excellent at providing information, discussing course content and interacting with her students and also supporting once they start 'creating'. I can absolutely recommend her courses and feel totally inspired and will no doubt be signing up for another course.

Excellent practical day learning techniques for mounting my photographs and putting it into practice with the support of Lynne and with a small group of other participants. I was very pleased with the four mounted photographs I completed and am well prepared to do more back home. Great day out to learn a useful and creative skill and meet others in a friendly workshop. As an amateur photographer just starting to mount photos for club competitions this session was first class. I travelled 50 miles to the event and it was worth the time. Highly recommended.

I had an inspiring day with Lynne and saw with my own eyes how adding or changing the mount can transform a picture. Mount cutting really is an essential skill for all artists and Lynne is an excellent teacher to learn with. She was well-prepared, always clear in her instructions, paid attention to necessary detail, and was altogether immensely generous with her time and input. And her homemade cake was second to none. Altogether an excellent workshop.
