Introduction to Goat Keeping

Introduction to Goat Keeping

About the Course

Join us on our farm for a one day course designed to give you the knowledge and experience to decide if keeping goats is for you! Or, perhaps you have had goats in the past and want to brush up on your skills and understanding of these very unique and rewarding animals.

The day will be a combination of time spent inside talking and discussing all things goats and plenty of time outside getting hands-on experience of handling, moving and looking after our goats.

We will cover:

The fundamentals of goat keeping – what is necessary to keep goats, from the legal side to the welfare requirements

Why goats? Learn about the breeds and why goats are so versatile and synonymous with small holdings

The practical implications of keeping goats – land required, shelters, fencing – yes they can be kept in with suitable fencing!

Keeping goats healthy – learn the basic theory but more importantly learn how to keep you goats healthy – prevention is better than cure!

If you will be redeeming a CraftCourses gift voucher on this course, the voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

What's included in the price?

We start the day at 10am with a brew or coffee and something to sustain you until Lunchtime. We break for a 2 course lunch and the day finishes at 4pm with another brew or coffee and something sweet.
