About the Course

Book in for two 3-hour relaxed, friendly beginners sessions which will introduce you to the art of glass fusion for jewellery making in the first session, then return a week later for the second session to complete making your fired fused glass into pieces of jewellery which you can take (or wear!) home at the end of the session.

***Please note: Price includes BOTH sessions on the dates listed, one week apart***

Time: Arrive 9.30/9.45am for 10am start and 1pm finish (each session)

Venue: Guggleton Farm Arts, Station Road, Stalbridge near Sturminster Newton Dorset DT10 2RQ

Maximum number on workshop is 4 people (adults only please) - larger groups can be accomodated in a workshop arranged specifically for you on a mutually agreeable date (many Saturdays are booked well in advance but please do enquire. Sundays and weekdays are also available for bookings).

In the first 3 hour workshop, we will look at the different kinds of glass used in glass fusion then move on to design and prepare your own pieces of glass for jewellery making, ready to be left to be fused in the kiln.

You will learn how to cut and assemble your glass pieces then leave them to be fired in the kiln.

You will have opportunity to learn the following skills using a selection from several different types of glass (eg flat glass, dichroic glass, stringers and ribbons, confetti, and frit):

Cutting Shapes

Layering glass, adding embellishments, and using adhesives

Adding fusing wire (for 'built in' hanging hooks)

Using fibre paper for embossing glass designs

Using stamps and decals

Mounting finished glass pieces using silver jewellery findings

You will return one week later for the second session where you will work with your fired pieces of glass to make them into finished pieces of jewellery to take home.

You can expect to make:

One pendant and earring set using dichroic glass

An additional pendant and earring set using non-dichroic glass (or equivalent

4 small charms which can be used for bracelets, key rings, necklaces or phone carms

You can work from your own ideas and designs, or you can use my ideas for inspiration or to follow if you prefer.
