This course is for students who want to understand the basic foundations of cut & sew hats (also called soft or pattern hats). This course offers the opportunity learn about basic hat pattern shapes, construction methods and sewing machine techniques used in making cut & sew hats.

Mode of delivery: in-centre with social distancing Typical activities: studio-based teaching with students working at individual work stations, following tutor demonstrations and practical activities. Assessment methods: Achievement on your course will be measured by whether you meet the learning outcomes above. At the start of the course, you will have an opportunity to discuss these with your tutor and set your own personal targets, linked to the learning outcomes and future goals i.e., progression to an advanced- level course. In order to ensure you make the best possible progress on your course, you will have regular constructive and supportive feedback from your tutor, who will divide teaching time between practical demonstrations of technique and one-to-one advice as students work through a given task.
