Suitable for beginners this one day course will introduce you to the wonderful world of jewellery making with Silver Metal Clay. You'll make several pieces during the day which will be yours to take home with you. We will start with flat textured charms/earrings and move onto multi layered stone set pendants. You'll learn how to attach your findings (ear wires and O rings etc) as well as make molds from found textures and objects.
With class sizes at a maximum of five you will get plenty of the tutor's time (Sarah Warden-Smith) in a relaxing, well equipped, purpose built studio. Group bookings and One to One classes can be catered for as well - please contact to discuss.
You'll learn how to :
Roll out and texture silver clay
Cut it into shape
Do simple stone setting
Make your own molds (please feel free to bring along items you wish to mold or alternatively we have items you can use)
Refine your pieces.
Fire with a torch and on a stove
Finish and polish your work
We have an access ramp so the studio is suitable for wheelchair users and those with mobility issues. Please contact us prior to booking to make sure we can accommodate all your needs.
What's included in the price?
The cost of the course includes enough silver metal clay to make several items as well as ear wires, necklet and O rings, there will be additional clay, ear wires, necklets and O rings for purchase if you wish to work in a larger scale or want to continue making once you leave.
We also provide refresments for breaks, tea, coffee, mineral water and the like, you won't go thirsty..... You can bring a packed lunch or there are cafes, shops and a pub locally to purchase from (you will need transport to get to some of them).
