About the Course
10.00am - 4.00pm - Make a wall cupboard (a place to hang your keys etc.) £125
Build a versatile wall shelf with drawers for storage. You can use it in the hallway or kitchen as a neat place to keep phone cables, keys etc.
You will cut materials to size from the drawing and using power tools create stopped grooves to support the shelves. You will create grooves in the side panels to receive the back panel, glue and assemble the project.
9.00am-5.00pm - Make a coffee table £150
Upgrade to hardwood materials possible - please contact us for a quotation.
You will cut materials to size from the drawing, create mortise and tenons for the side rails of the table and machine up the pieces for the table top. You will also learn how to secure the top to the table and glue and clamp all the pieces together. Please make sure you have room in your car to take the completed piece home with you. Approx size is 1M x 500mm x 400mm.
9.00am-5.00pm - Make a shoe rack £150
You will cut materials to size from the drawing and assemble using pocket hole joinery techniques for the rack. Also biscuit joinery for the rack end frames and removeable "knock down" techniques to allow the rack to be disassembled for painting and staining.
9.00am-5.00pm - Make an Ottoman £200
You will cut materials to size from the drawing and use biscuit joinery techniques to assemble the cabinet. Use a router and jig to create mounting holes and mortises for the hinges and mounting the lid. The lid will then be upholstered so you will learn the techniques on how to do this. The finished cabinet can be painting at your leisure at home at a later time. Students will supply their own fabric and foam for the project. Full requirements for these components will be given after booking. Approx size 1M x 500mm x 600mm
10.00-4.00pm - Mortice and Tenon Day Course £125
Mortice and tenon joints are used for many different types of construction including the construction of tables, chairs, windows, doors, stools and other structures.
There are many different types of mortice and tenon joints but the main ones are: Through tenon, blind tenon and haunched tenon. With these and other commonly used joints you can tackle any project with some hand tools and sketch.

Tea and coffee are available throughout the day. There is no lunch provided so bring your own or there is a local shop 1 min drive away. Local train station is aprox 10 mins walk and parking is available at the workshop.
