About the Course
Two day residential watercolour workshop run by the Field Studies Council.
This weekend course is for anyone who would like to learn how a combination of pen work and simple watercolour washes can produce exciting, worthwhile paintings. There will be plenty of demonstrations, plus individual guidance. The aim of the demonstrations will be to show you the full potential of these media. All the basic technical information will be covered and there will be plenty of time for practice and practical work. The basic ideas of composition, colour and tone as well as drawing will also be revisited. The course is suitable for anyone who has worked with watercolour before and would like fresh ideas and inspiration.
Andrew Pitt has had many one-man exhibitions and is an experienced tutor and demonstrator. He frequently runs painting workshops for art societies and is also a regular contributor to the Leisure Painter magazine. This is his 11th consecutive season as an Associate Tutor at Flatford Mill.
Bring a friend! If you are attending a course at Flatford Mill at the sole occupancy price, we are offering a special rate for a friend or partner not enrolled on the course to also stay at £50 per night for dinner, bed and breakfast. Please get in touch to book this offer.
Flatford Mill lies at the heart of the Dedham Vale, on the banks of the River Stour near the Suffolk-Essex border. The Centre buildings, particularly the Mill and Willy Lott’s House, are instantly recognisable since they feature in many paintings by John Constable. The rich mosaic of lowland landscapes, wildlife habitats and places of historic interest are all reflected in our extensive programme of courses.
The Centre is located between Colchester and Ipswich and is about 10 miles from each, approximately 2 miles from the A12.
