This beginner's course will teach you the basics of Adobe Illustrator. You will learn how to add and manipulate simple shapes, draw freehand art using the pencil tool and trace and colour hand made artwork. You can create graphics and images for web, print, digital art or files for printmaking and textile applications.
Who is this course for
This course is aimed at artists, designers, printmakers, textile designers and anyone else who wants to learn to create digital artwork. This could be an end in itself or part of a creative process involving traditional media.
Adobe Illustrator is typically used to create 'flat' artwork such as illustrations, logos, diagrams, icons, cartoons and can also be used to prepare printmaking stencils and patterns for textiles.
This course is for beginners but you should be confident doing following on your computer: opening, saving, copying and moving files, using a mouse.
What does this course cover
The course will introduce you to all the basic of the programme including the main tools, menus and functions.
By the end of the course you should be able to:
1. Create and manipulate vector shapes
2. Use the Pathfinder to combine shapes
3. Create complex artwork from simple geometric shapes
4. Convert photographs and drawings into digital art
5. Create a simple pattern
6. Export art in different formats.
