About the Course
This friendly 'Taster' course will introduce you to mark-making techniques and colour mixing using acrylic and watercolour paint. We will use a range of brushes and papers. It is an excellent preparation for The Painting Course: Beginners"."
By the end of the course you will be able to
Identify the basic qualities of watercolour, gouache, acrylics and oil paint
Use a range of brushes
Identify and create specific paint marks
Recognise which papers and surfaces are suitable for different media
Use materials safely
Class format and activities
This practical 2 session short course will give you the confidence to discover a basic range of colour mixing and painting techniques. It is a positive and welcoming introduction to the Beginners Painting Course.The tutor will discuss and demonstrate techniques and you will follow a sequential process of basic colour mixing and mark making using different paint media.
Constructive and supportive feedback from your tutor will help you succeed during the class.
The course is for complete beginners but is also suitable for those with some experience wishing for a refresher.
What you need to know before you enrol
The D11 Studio is on the 1st floor with no lift access. As we are using pigments and solvents, health & safety guidelines need to be considered.
What you will need for your class
College paint brushes are provided - but please bring a few brushes of different sizes and shapes, nylon and bristle if you have them. Basic quality is fine. Paint will be provided for these 2 sessions. Please wear old clothes or bring an apron.
