About the Course

Get started with needle-felting beautiful pictures in a relaxed, easy to follow step by step process in this live one-to-one online workshop (NOT a pre-recorded video).

Learn to use different kinds of felting wools and fibres to create pictures from your own designs, patterns and photos. You can also see how embellishing your felt picture with very simple sewn stitches, beads, buttons and different fibres will really make your felt work spring into life. This is a great place to start learning the craft of needle felt pictures.

I will contact you within 24 hours hours of your purchase of this online workshop to arrange your individual session for a mutually convenient date and time (7 day a week availability 9am-9pm). If you have any questions before or after purchase please let me know - happy to help!

During this 1.5 hour workshop you will find out about the different kinds of felting wools and and fibres can be used to great effect by needle felting a background (or by using a pre-prepared 'prefelt') and then by needle felting your design onto the background. We will be concentrating on starting with the basics of needle felted pictures, including:

What equipment and supplies do you need
Which fibres are suitable for suitable for needle felting (wool types and also plant based fibres)
Felting Needle types and gauges explained
Preparing your fibres and creating your background base
How to add needle felt to the surface of your background to add structures and details such as trees, sheep, buildings, birds etc
Techniques for adding needle felt details
Embellishing your needle felt with 4 simple stitches and by adding buttons, beads, embroidery threads, and even other materials to make your picture come alive
How to easily turn your finished felt work into a framed picture, wall hanging, notebook cover... and more!
Suppliers of felt making equipment and consumables (UK)
I will demonstrate the stages of how to make a needle felt background, pre-felt alternatives, and how to add your needle felt detail to the surface. I'll show how to sew the 4 simple sewn stitches I most commonly use plus how to attached beads, buttons and textiles to the felt work background. I will also show some examples of finished pieces which incorporate these techniques.

If you have the supplies and equipment already, you can 'craft-along' with me during the demonstration and you will have access to the video replay after our one to one so you can carry on with your felt work to complete the piece which you've started.

If you want to see what you need first before purchasing your felt making equipment, you will also have access to the video replay after our one to one.

You will be invited to an online group just for Workshop attendees where you can continue to ask questions about needle felt making, any issues which you may be having, or to ask for any advice which you may need. And where you can also share your lovely finished felt pictures too!
