About the Course

You will obtain an understanding of the guiding principles behind this 200 year old complementary therapy. The tutor will include some of the well known homoeopathic remedies, building a picture of each with examples of cases to make the learning fun and informative. A learning walk is planned, to explore the fauna and flora of the area, looking for plants with medicinal qualities. A hands on session is also planned, where all learners will be able to make a homoeopathic remedy to take home. A resource list for further studies will be included in the handout pack.

The course aims are:
to introduce the main homoeopathic principals
demonstrate the healing qualities within a range of plants, minerals and animal products within the context of homoeopathic prescribing

Using the remedies presented in a Homoeopathic Remedy Kit, the tutor will teach a range of remedy pictures and the learners will be taught their uses within an acute first aid situation i.e. bites, stings, lacerations, burns and allergic reactions.

Course tutor: Cathryn Brooks
Since moving to North Essex over 10 years ago, I have been lucky enough to work with Adult Community Learning, Essex to deliver a range of Complementary Therapy Courses. Their support has given me an opportunity to develop my teaching skills, gain a Teaching Qualification and work alongside peers sharing best practice. My confidence in my teaching abilities has grown over the years and I enjoy researching and putting together new courses. My story began in North London when, as a new mother looking after a small baby who had eczema, I was fortunate to meet another new mother who was studying Homoeopathy. She began my interest in this amazing therapy and with her support, my son became eczema free after a few weeks of taking homoeopathic remedies. I joined in an evening class at my local Adult Education College and progressed to the Four Year Part Time Homoeopathic Practitioner Course at Regents College London. My career became a calling. Passionate about health and wellbeing I believe that using natural remedies can keep us healthy and way from endless rounds of anti-biotics. My Practice includes volunteering for a Homoeopathic Charity and most summers will find me in a muddy field, offering Homoeopathic support for festival goers across England. 'I saw an advert in my student magazine asking for volunteers and that was it'. With 20 yrs' experience at Glastonbury my acute prescribing skills are always being reinforced and I use this knowledge to inform the courses and classes that I offer. Interesting tales to share over a cup of tea!
