This is a one day workshop for historical costume and re-enactment enthusiasts, teaching you the skills and techniques involved in the making of a selection of historical jewellery pieces.
Choose one of the specific dates - or choose your own date if booking a group of 3 or 4.
All classes take place on board a narrowboat moored alongside the beautiful Worcestershire canals - The Silver Jewellery Boat (see our other courses for our favourable reviews) - and are suitable for complete beginners.
Using tools and methods that have hardly changed over time, you will be introduced to a selection of making activities, and use copper to experiment and practise, producing a few sample products that you may choose to wear!
Then, using silver and maybe a mixture of metals, you will create your final piece:
An attractive Anglo Saxon wire wrapped/ Roman snake/signet ring - traditionally influenced and hand made by you - beautiful jewellery to complement your costume.
Or, a practical although stunning Roman/ Anglo Saxon/ Viking Pennanular brooch, a bold and beautiful statement piece to hold your costume in place. Traditionally hand forged and made by you into your own unique design.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course
fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be
provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
Small group instruction, tools and materials are all included. Light refreshments will be offered.
The Pennanular Brooch incurs a materials surcharge due to the extra quantity of material used - see website for details.
