About the Course

Our enthusiastic tutors will cover a variety of handbuild techniques including throwing, pinching, coiling and slab building: starting from the basics and gradually covering more advanced techniques. Come with ideas or let our tutors inspire with ideas such as tea pot making, plate making, plant holders and more.
During this 10 week class, you’ll also get to trial the wheel. We’ll show you how to pull a professional handle and basic glazing techniques.

What's included in the price?

Students can continue to build skills term after term with the support of our highly experienced tutors. Each term we’ll inspire with different project builds and techniques ensuring tha your skills keep developing.

We’ll cover:

the major handbuild techniques: pinch pot, coil and slab build methods
wheel introduction
slip painting and decoration techniques
kiln firing basics
clay types
a review of contemporary ceramics
Please note that there is a £4/lb charge for firing and glazing. We also keep pieces for 3 months after the workshop date.

Location: Studio 2, Global House 21 Lombard Road Wimbledon SW19 3TZ (The studio door is down the side of the building, on the left just before the Acava studios sign).
