Course Start DatesSaturday 7th March 2020
About the Course
Come join Lyn of Boo Bears, on a fun two day workshop to hand stitch your own collectable bear.
9.30am - Coffee and choose Mohair, cut out and start sewing
midday day - buffet lunch (included)
4pm - finish (may have some homework to finish off)
Same timings Sunday, we will be stuffing, jointing, pulling eyes in, constructing and sewing up the bears to take home at 4pm.
Lyn has taught over 70 people to make many mohair creations.
The bears are approximately 5", you will have a choice of beautiful materials including mohair, ultra suede and cashmere in an array of colours, lengths and textures. During the weekend you will cut out your pattern, draw around it, then cut and pin out the mohair, sew around the parts, stuff and joint the parts, sew up. Building it up is the best bit; finishing with the bear's head, ears, eyes and hand stitched smile.
They are completely hand-sewn and students participating in the workshop must be able to do back-stitch (tiny, tight stitching required). You may need to do some sewing on the Saturday evening to keep to the planned finish time.
Live locally? Lyn runs weekly drop in sessions if you can't do a weekend.
Accommodation can be found locally in and near the beautiful town Cockermouth, Travelodge, Hotel Premierinn, local Bed and Breakfast, The Trout Hotel.

Brilliant course and great teacher, met lots of lovely friends along the way - bonus was a little family of bears, a moomin and a Fox, all unique!
Lyn provides everything and is really helpful when you need to get the hang of something (or when you get your ladder stitch wrong... again!)
Highly recommended 😊

Lyn Roberts is such a fabulous teacher and SO patient and knowledgable. She never bats an eye when I need showing something yet again. I have learnt so much about hand sewing skills, which has given me the confidence to try other patterns and designs. Can definitely recommend Lyn as a teacher, you won’t regret it.
Sarah Stevenson - - #20332
Response from Boo Bears Cumbria:Hi Sarah,
As long as you have some basic sewing skills you will manage to make your very own bear. Lyn guides you along the way with excellent tuition and gently helps you to make your own stunning bear. You are sure to be really happy with your creation. I was so pleased with mine I went back to make more!
Siobhan Gascoigne - - #20328
Response from Boo Bears Cumbria:Hello Siobhan,
You couldn't ask for a better teacher in the craft of hand-sewn bears than Lyn. She has years of experience making miniature jointed hand sewn mohair bears; Knowing the best way to work with the materials, the right stich size and the best strength of thread etc. Loads of mohair colours and hair lengths to choose from. Lyn's relaxed teaching style makes the atmosphere wonderful, we laughed our way through the bear making, when not concentrating on our stiches. Whether you want to make a smiling bear or the grumpy traditional bear face, Lyn has done them all and guides us well. At the end a beautiful mohair bear that will bring back lovely memories. It's definitely worth checking out the photos of Boo Bears. And it's in Cumbria, one of the best places in the world.

A welcoming, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Lyn is a a very experienced, enthusiastic and knowlegable tutor, giving constant support to the group, during a step by step approach to creating your beautiful bear.
Basic back stitching experience is advantageous to get the most out of the sessions. The end product us definitely worth the effort, 'Create something beautiful'. Once you've completed one you will be planning the next in no time.
