This is a silk scarf that would be a talking point when you wear it; slightly quirky with a touch of humour and at the same time soft and elegant. I have used original illustrations of vintage flying machines as stencils, then hand-printed it, using the 'Blueprint' photographic process (Cyanotype). The result is a beautiful 'Prussian Blue' colour. I am happy to take commissions for a Cyanotype silk scarf if you would like more of them, or ones with a different design.
The Cyanotype process is a 19th Century photographic process that uses iron salts and sunshine to create a beautiful Prussian Blue colour; it is the original 'blueprint'. In the 1800s, botanist Anna Atkins was the first person to use photographs to illustrate a book by using Cyanotypes and this is the same process that I use today!
