About the Course
Have you always wanted to learn the art of embroidery but have never been sure where to start?
In this workshop, I will teach you how to set up a hoop, transfer designs onto fabric and what the best materials to use for hand embroidery are.
You will learn some basic embroidery stitches on a 'sampler' which you can refer back to when stitching. We will play with scale, colour and shape to create different patterns using these stitches.
I will then show you how to use these skills to embroider a finished design of your choice onto a hoop, or you can choose from templates provided, the choice is yours!
To end, you will learn how to finish off the back of an embroidery hoop and ideas to design future pieces of embroidered hoop art.
No experience is necessary in this workshop, though if you do know a little that will be a bonus and will be more of a refresher.
Please note, beading and sequin stitching is not included in this workshop, but 'Hand embroidery with beads and sequins in Exeter' would be a great second workshop to attend to expand on this one.
