Come and spend some time developing your ceramics skills in a relaxing, supportive environment. A day spent learning hand building techniques so that you are able to roll out and build from slabs of clay.Workshops are open to all and numbers are kept low, to allow the day to be individually tailored to ability.
You will make either a jug or vessel including imprinted surface decoration and sgrafitto drawing (scratching into the surface of the clay) and also a shallow slab or coil bowl which will further develop your surface decoration skills through printing, imprinting and use of body stains, coloured slips and underglazes. Your work will be taken away to be fired within a week and arrangements made for collection from Penny's Studio in Horton in Ribblesdale. Please note if delivery is required, there may be an additional fee.
Penny Hunt has taught art for over 25 years as well as creating her own work from her studio in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Her work is about the little things that make up that landscape of freedom, the places where you feel the full force of wind and weather and find some perspective on life. Penny’s Fine Art degree, MA and many years teaching helped develop her paintings, printmaking and ceramic work. Each material feeds back into the other, the layering, overprinting and intaglio techniques are present in all.
