About the Course

Our 2020 workshop programme at Cowshed Creative is now on OUR website (purple tab above) with full details and info on how to book. Packed with inspiring art and craft workshops, book now to avoid disappointment – The perfect Christmas gift!

The workshop is at Cowshed Creative, based in a traditional converted Lakeland barn at Browfoot Farm. The art studio is a stunning open plan space with plenty of room to wander outside and take inspiration from the amazing Lakeland landscape and environment of the peaceful Kentmere valley. Make it a special break and stay on the farm. Check our website for availability.

Spend a relaxing day creating collaged pictures with fabrics and stitch. The emphasis of the day is to encourage participants to develop their own creative ideas, turning all those hoarded fabric scraps into a miniature work of art using simple hand-stitches, found fabrics and embellishments. Ideal for beginner or those with some experience.

Sarah Ames is a Textile Artist working just outside the Lake District National Park in West Cumbria. Living within reach of the northern Lake District and the more industrial west coast, Sarah finds both of these areas a great inspiration for her work. Working from her lovely studio (a renovated summer house) in the garden, she uses applique and free-machine embroidery to create a range of contemporary, functional and decorative textile pieces.

Sarah has a BA and MA in Contemporary Applied Arts from the University of Cumbria and is also a qualified teacher. Having left teaching a few years ago, she now has her own textiles business selling through galleries and art/craft events across the country and leading workshops in a variety of textile media

This workshop will be at Cowshed Creative, based in a converted Lakeland barn on our traditional family Farm. The art studio is a stunning open plan space with plenty of room to wander outside and take inspiration from the amazing Lakeland landscape and environment of the peaceful Kentmere valley. Make it a special break and stay in one of our luxury camping pods on the farm. Check out our website for details.

All our tutors are carefully selected professionals and experts with extensive teaching experience. Whilst this is a relatively new venture, George, who has set up Cowshed Creative, has many years of experience programming and running creative courses at the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal and for Cumbria Adult Education.

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
