Green woodworking courses at Coed Tylluan near Cardigan.
Learn traditional green woodworking skills using hand tools and green wood. These courses are split into two categories namely, Pole lathe turning and Cleft wood gate making.
Pole Lathe turning courses will offer a step by step tutorial from log to finish product covering all the different processes and techniques which will give you the know how to make your own green wood crafts from raw materials such as ash, hazel, cherry, sycamore, beech and oak. Get to know the different properties of various timbers and how and when to use them. A great start to help build your green wood working skill base. Beginners and improvers as well as experienced crafters welcome.
Cleft hardwood gate making courses cover all the steps necessary to build your own gate out of green cleft coppice wood. Learn how to use the hand tools involved and the traditional techniques of joinery used in this declining country craft. Tools involved in this craft include the side axe, the froe and mallet, the drawknife and the shave horse.

What's included in the price?
All tools will be provided and tea, coffee and biscuits will be available free of charge. Vegan and vegetarian food can be provided for students at their request. Some extra fees may apply depending on what the student chooses to make for example: a hardwood oak bench or stool. You might be asked to cover the cost of the timber base but not the legs.
