About the Course
This course is an interactive and enjoyable introduction to green wood carving in the beautiful rural setting of the Alderfen Marshes. Let your creative juices flow as you source your green timber from the 9 acre site and then learn to split, chop and carve your log into a unique spoon. Take your new skills (and your spoon) home with you, ready to tackle your next green woodcarving project.
On the day you will:
Select your tree and branch
Get to know the tools for carving
Design your spoon
Create a spoon ‘blank’ with an axe
Shape the spoon using a selection of tools
Get tips on finishing the spoon
Learn proper tool maintenance

Axes, rasps and a selection of carving tools
Goggles, cut proof gloves and other health and safety equipment

(Note: Lunch is not provided. Students are responsible for bringing their own packed lunch.)
Please wear sturdy boots and outdoor clothing suitable for weather conditions on the day.
