Meet 'Neil' the snail! This adorable little critter likes to take life slowly, and so do we!
Learn the basics of goldwork hand embroidery; covering simple padding techniques, couching and cutwork. All instructions and materials will be provided and are included in the cost of the class. This workshop is split across two Saturdays so you can really take your time and experience the calming and therapeutic benefits of hand embroidery. This also means you can work on your project between classes although Neil (and Jessica) won't mind if you don't. Suitable for beginners and those who are new to goldwork embroidery.
Jessica Aldred trained at the Royal School of Needlework and now lives down the road in her home town of Halifax. Since graduating she's worked in costume at the Royal Opera House, taught needlework to male inmates in a high security prison, co-authored a book called Adventures in Needlework and been part of the team who embroidered the wedding dress and veil for the Duchess of Cambridge. She now works teaching adults with learning disabilities using arts based practices and carries out commissions and teaching via her business 'House of Heyday'. Her classes are relaxed, friendly and inclusive.
