Our glassblowing (lamp-working) experiences are for beginners and are for 2 people (minimum age 18). Our experiences are the perfect opportunity to try something you've always wanted to or something you've never thought of before.
The term glassblowing covers many aspects of glasswork - kiln work, fusing, slumping are but a few examples, the glasswork you will be doing on this experience is known as lamp-working, this is the term used to describe glass that is heated and manipulated using an oxygen and propane torch.
Each experience lasts 2 hours and David (sometimes known as the Grumpy Glassblower,) a glassblower with over 38 years of lamp-working experience, will welcome you and give you a safety talk, he will explain all of the equipment and tools that you'll be using and also talk you through techniques and methods of handling and manipulating the glass. David will then explain and show you how to make a glass drinking straw, a drinks stirrer, pendant and blown glass baubles. After he has shown you each piece it'll then be your turn.
All of the pieces you create during your experience will be ready for you to take home at the end.
The experiences are hosted on Thursdays Fridays and Saturday's - please contact us regarding dates and booking.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
