Description

Fired glass is fascinating to work with and brings a unique perspective to 3 dimensional art. If you’ve never worked with glass before, we will show you the primary techniques involved in cutting, shaping and assembling glass ready for fusing. There are many applications for glass art but given its ability to change with the light and produce beautiful colours and shadows, windows and outside in the garden is a common location. What is glass fusing? Glass fusing is a process where glass pieces and decorative elements fused together at high temperatures in a kiln. Depending on the process you choose you can make many different projects from window hangers and decorative items. What will I learn? • Cutting glass • Designing a fused glass piece • Assembling a fused glass piece for fusing What can I make? Each workshop will have a different theme and you are welcome to create your own design. Option 1 2 sun catchers and 1 Tea light formed during a second kiln run over a slumping mould Option 2 2 Tea lights formed during a second kiln run over a slumping mould Option 3 Large artistic free standing curve (300 mm length) or wave (260 mm length) piece formed during a 2nd kiln run over a slumping mould
