Class format and activities
You will work independently and as part of a group to perform exercises which will help you understand the Apple Macintosh and its many functions and features. The tutor will help you with your personal requirements for using a Mac and advise of the features and functions you would mostly need. The class will be taught via a mix of presentation, active learning exercises, demonstrations, hand-outs, step-by-step instructions, pair working and group discussion. One-to-one tuition will be given to help develop ideas and skills. Manageable project work will sometimes be assigned between classes to help you progress. The classes are informal and allow for question and answer sessions, technical advice and support depending on your needs, and assessment and feedback on your progress. Some use of web-based presentation tools will be encouraged. Learning will be supported by course hand-outs, and the tutor will provide links to online resources.
Constructive and supportive feedback from your tutor will help you succeed during the class.
You will have an interest in Apple Macs and a desire to learn how they work. Perhaps you have received a new machine and are unsure of how to start. This course will be ideal for the beginner in all things Mac! A keen interest in the subject is key to your success and the ability to attend the sessions regularly to get the most out of the course. This course can be taken alongside with any of our digital design, film and photography courses and will help you to gain the confidence you need when working with digital tools for design and publication.
