About the Course

For those lovers of old master drawings and the drama of light and shadow, we offer a workshop with chalks & charcoals.

In this course, we will learn about - and experiment with – different charcoals and several types of paper, whilst paying attention to technique and lighting.

Students will have the choice of working on a still life, or self-portrait.

Suitable for all levels.

Materials list

Conté a Paris pencils: black, white, sanguine, sepia.
Eraser, large.
General’s Charcoal pencils: Soft, Medium, Hard
Charcoal sticks: various sizes and hardness (no straight rules here, you’ll discover what you prefer)
Kneaded (putty) eraser.
Pencil sharpener and Exacto knife and blades.
Drawing board with clips, 23"x 26" (or thereabouts ).

Paper:
18"x 24" Sketchpad.
