Our 4 week Beginners Sewing course at Tod College is running as a daytime session, as it’s been a while since we offered you a daytime beginners course! We can teach you all the basics including an understanding of your sewing machine, accurate stitching and basic problem solving (or avoiding!) . The course runs on a Wednesday morning from 10.15am to 12.12pm and lasts for 4 weeks.
We will cover:
Week 1: Learn to use your sewing machine, tips and tricks for easier faff free sewing, also practice how to sew in a straight line, sew curves and corner with ease.
Week 2: Learn to change a needle, check your tension, then move on to seams and hems, learning the most useful of each.
Weeks 3 & 4: Make a simple item to practice and consolidate the skills you’ve learnt. Fabric and patterns/instructions all provided, or feel free to bring your own.
£60 including materials as needed. If you pay the £20 deposit to book please pay the balance on the first session of the course. If you wish to spread payments out over a longer period please contact us to arrange. Places are limited to 10.
If you have your own machine we do advise you to bring it along, otherwise we can provide one for a small charge. Everything else can be provided as needed and included in the cost, however if you do have your own scissors, tape measure pins etc we do advise you to bring them along as equipment is limited and would need to be shared. Please bring a drink along with you as there may not be an opportunity to provide hot drinks.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
All tuition and any materials needed but please bring your own if you have them as materials are limited.
4 weeks (10:16am to 12:16pm)
