Description

You will leave this with a knowledge of gemstones and the ability to complete a rub over setting into a ring that you have made.

Suited for someone who have some basic knowledge of jewellery making (soldering, piercing and filing metal) you will be taught how to select gemstones based on the suitability of your design, colour and budget choices. A selection of gemstones will be on hand to select from.

Starting with an introduction to gemstone properties and a technical demonstration you will:

- Learn how to understand gemstone qualities and to appreciate the natural features.
- Design your own ring or pendant.
- Create a ring to your own design
- Learn how to create a setting for a gemstone
- Set your stone using the rubover style
- Learn how to polish your finish piece of jewellery for wear.

Whilst this course does have a technical foundation, an emphasis will be placed on creativity and design.

If you would like to join this course but do not have basic jewellery skills please book on Jewellery Making Techniques for Beginners first.

This course runs over 4 consecutive Tuesday mornings.
