Working with glass is not nearly as scary as it sounds, come and try it out for yourself.
Frequently run taster sessions and workshops in glass fusing, we supply all you will need to make your own pieces of fused glass.
Class sizes are small which means a good student to teacher ratio.
Learn to cut glass, be creative, have fun and enjoy yourself!
•Basic safety, tools & equipment.
•Basic terms; warm glass, hot glass, what is fusing, slumping, cold working etc.
• The glass we use and others types, compatibility & ‘accessory’ glass.
• Cutting and handling glass.
• What happens to glass in the kiln.
• Introduction to basic design ideas.
During your half day Taster, you can create a variety of small projects, typically 4, coaster sized (10cm square), 2 of which can be slumped into little dishes if you wish. You will get the chance to experiment with different design techniques and use of accessory glass and inclusions. You can cut your glass smaller if you wish or you may prefer to avoid further glass cutting completely and use just the bits & pieces available in the studio. Just come and enjoy yourself.
Your projects will be fired (fused and slumped) over the following 2 weeks, ready for collection or posting - which is charged at cost.
Your tutor is Jill Bagnall artist/maker at Fusing Ideas Glass. Jill is a member of both Shropshire & Worcestershire Guilds of Contemporary Craft as well as the Contemporary Glass Society. She is constantly evolving her own techniques though attending masterclasses and experimentation and warns "glass is a seductive material, you could find yourself hooked"!
