Working with glass is not nearly as scary as it sounds, come and try it out for yourself.
Frequently run taster sessions and workshops in glass fusing, we supply all you will need to make your own pieces of fused glass.
Class sizes are small which means a good student to teacher ratio.
Learn to cut glass, be creative, have fun and enjoy yourself!

Topics covered:
•Basic safety, tools & equipment.
•Basic terms; warm glass, hot glass, what is fusing, slumping, cold working etc.
• The glass we use and others types, compatibility & ‘accessory’ glass.
• Cutting and handling glass.
• What happens to glass in the kiln.
• Introduction to basic design ideas.

During your half day Taster, you will create up to 4 coaster (10cm square) sized projects, 2 of which can be slumped into little dishes if you wish. You will get the chance to experiment with different design techniques and use of accessory glass and inclusions.
Your projects will be fired (fused and slumped) over the next couple of weeks, ready for collection or posting - which is charged at cost.

Your tutor is Jill Bagnall designer/maker at Fusing Ideas Glass. Jill is a member of the Shropshire Guild of Contemporary Craft as well as the Contemporary Glass Society and Shropshire Visual Arts Networks. Having decided to concentrate on fusing and kiln formed glass, Jill is constantly evolving her techniques and styles, often triggered by attending a masterclass or simply discovering a new technique. "It's not the techniques or the materials we use, it's the way we put them all together that makes any artist or designer unique".
