Have you ever wished you could make fused glass jewellery that is unique to you? That has your name and your story woven into the designs? If so, this advanced course is for you.
On our two-day weekend course, we lead you into a more personal approach to developing your creative and design skills in fused glass jewellery. This course will push you onto a new level of glass jewellery design and making with a focus on achieving a personal style. The course is aimed at students who have some prior experience of working with fused glass for jewellery and who wish to develop their design skills for a more professional finish.
We are booking now for November 2017.
From a place of personal inspiration, we will explore design, focussing on creating our own highly individual sheets of glass using transparent, opaque, dichroic and reactive combinations of glass, with the use of lots of inclusions, frit, stringers, and other decorative media. (We will work in Spectrum and Bullseye glass ranges)
You will learn:
To explore and combine appropriate combinations of glass (by COE)
To work with reactive glass combinations for new and interesting decorative effects
To understand kiln firing schedules for the techniques for full fuse, tack fusing and fire polishing as well as decals and glass paints
To make your own personally inspired and designed glass on day 1 with which we will cut, shape and make individual pieces of jewellery from on day 2
To work with decals, fibre-board, glass media, frit powders and other inclusions
To make our own elements for inclusion in glass
To use studio equipment for fine cutting, drilling to produce finished glass pieces for jewellery
To plan and present your designs to include the necessary findings to ensure your jewellery is wearable to a professional finish
We will problem solve and work individually and as a peer group to learn from each other's experience and creativity
Design and make a final piece(s) by the end of day 2, using techniques we have covered
Admire each others work and be inspired by our creativity!
A weekend to push the boundaries of your design, creativity and personal style and give you the opportunity to use the studio's cold working tools too.
