The workshop is three full days, October 10, 11 and 12 from 10 AM until 4 PM with an hour break for lunch. The class begins with a clear and simplified explanation of basic colour theory and how we experience colour in the world. Next, we face the challenge of determining colour tone in the real world and on our palettes. From that strong foundation, working with a limited palette of six pigments, we mix beautiful neutrals ant enhance our fully saturated hues. Next, we determine the temperature of our hues and how to chose hues based on the temperature of adjacent colours. Finally, we pull it all together, understanding how choice of hue, value and temperature, when chosen carefully, clearly communicates the mood and intention of our art.
What's included in the price?
A materials list will be emailed to you upon registration. It is also available online in the workshop listing. Beverages and light fare is available in the gift shop. I suggest you bring snacks and water to keep you happy during the workshop hours. You are also welcome to bring a bag lunch with you. There are tables and chairs in the gift shop/gallery. The materials needed are minimal. If you already work in watercolour, you probably have the equipment and paints we will be needing for the three days.
