About the Course
Come along to one of our (one day 10am to 3pm) fun and friendly workshops at Grappenhall Community Centre, Warrington. Learn a variety of furniture / craft painting techniques, transform your own piece, make some new like minded friends and leave with the skills and inspiration to continue further projects at home.
The workshops are from 10am to 3pm (5 hours). A small group of no more than 6, therefore you will receive one to one instruction for much of the time.
On the Level 1 Beginners course, the first section of the workshop will be a step by step instruction on a variety of techniques incl. prep, painting, crackling, dry brushing, distressing, two colour, stencilling and finishing/protecting the paint when you will be able to experiment with different paints, colours, brushes and techniques on a techniques board (provided and which you will be able to take home). I will guide you through each stage and discuss in detail how and when to use each technique. During this time we will start to discuss your piece of furniture and which look(s)/colour(s) you prefer in preparation for the second part of the day when you will transform your piece. You will be able to ask as many questions as you wish and much of the time will be one to one.
You will bring a small piece of furniture which you'd like to freshen up and transform into a beautiful, elegant piece to match your home decor, and try out your newly learned skills during the second part of the day. I will be there every step of the way to guide you and to provide advice and ideas for a creative result. Again, with such a small group, there is plenty of time for one to one discussion. Full workshop notes on techniques, paints, products and where to buy will be provided.
The level 2 Intermediate / Advanced workshop is ideal for people who have a basic knowledge of furniture painting, or those who have attended Level 1. You will learn a variety of more advanced techniques including glazing, raised stencilling, image transfer, decoupage, blending and metallic/leaf foiling, creating your own board and small pieces (all provided in the price) which you will be able to take home with you on the day. You wouldn't need to bring any furniture with you for this workshop. Full workshop notes also provided.
Please see what previous attendees have said about these workshops in all of our reviews (not just this venue) as we hold these courses at a variety of venues.

Joanne (The Boho Shed).
Had a great day with Jo on this workshop. Jo gave us the chance to practice some painting techniques with lots of help and guidance. We then set about painting our own piece of furniture. I feel confident now to have a go at painting more items in my home. A fun day. Thanks Jo

Response from The Boho Shed:Wonderful news!! My job is done - for you to leave with the knowledge and confidence to continue with your own projects at home. Don't forget to show me your creativity. :-)
I would recommend this course as a fun an informative way to learn various painting techniques. Jo is very helpful and knowledgeable, and the group of other ladies on the course were friendly and supportive. I’m looking forward to doing the next level.

Just had a fab and fun day at the furniture painting course on 7 June in Grappenhall. Jo is an excellent teacher and very approachable. We learnt lots of new techniques which I can try at home before going on the level 2 course later in the year. It was a great venue, great crowd, great fun and great value.
I would recommend this course and Jo to anyone.
I'm also looking forward to the upholstery course which I have booked for this summer.

I attended Jo's paint workshop on Friday with my mum. It was excellent day out, good value for money and very informative. We learnt how to create a distressed look, stencil, how to create the crackling look. Jo was extremely friendly, patient, helpful and full of wonderful ideas as we had the opportunity during the course to create an effect on an item of our choice. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Jo's workshops and I will definitely be attending one very soon. xx

And I am so very pleased you have been inspired to keep your old furniture and make it beautiful following the workshop. See you at the next one.
I attended Jo’s workshop in February and was very impressed. Jo is very knowledgable and patient and taught us lots of amazing techniques. An old childhood bookcase became a very modern and refreshed piece of furniture thanks to Jo’s advice and guidance. The cakes were yummy too. Highly recommended the Boho Shes and Jo. Can’t wait for level 2.
