About the Course
As with stained glass, fused glass is colourful and accessible. It’s popularity as an affordable hobby has led to extensive development by the raw materials manufacturers and now the range of colours, textures, accessories and fusing equipment is almost endless….. and getting better all the time. Fusing glass is a much less regimented process than stained glass and in many ways is much like collage, offering plenty of scope for expression. It’s versatile as well – I’ve been making fused dichroic glass jewellery, wall-art and kiln-formed glass for years and it always seems popular with visitors to the workshop.
This course is a great place to start – offering the opportunity to learn how to make a fused glass piece of wall art – something sea-sidey is proving popular. You will begin by learning how to accurately cut glass, then when you feel confident, you can then choose your project design. There will be a range of colours to choose from that will suit your project and I will be on hand at every stage to guide you through the process – all the while talking about the various practical aspects of fusing.
As an alternative option, this day course can be focused on producing smaller pieces of Fused Glass to create jewellery or mosaic components using both the kiln and/or a mini kiln and microwave oven.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
The day course includes use of tools, materials, refreshments and a lunch per person.
You will go home with a Fused Glass wall hanging made by you!
*The firing will be done over night and will require collection the next day or additional postage cost if unable to collect.*
Paul and Natalie were very experienced and made the learning process comfortable and most important achievable. After learning the technics of cutting and the tools required I then went on to learn the methods in making stained glass projects when sticking glass to glass, for me as a mosaic artist it was wonderful to see the result when putting some mosaic pieces into the frame. I will certainly return to learn more and highly recommend the course to anyone looking to learn this craft I can assure you it will be well worth it.
