About the Course
Weekly creative embroidery classes on Wednesday mornings from 10am - 12 noon during term time. Run by Sheffield based textile artist Dawn Ireland who is a practicing artist with over 20 years experience working in textiles and embroidery.
The classes are relaxed & informal, where you can experiment with hand and/or free-machine embroidery, and gain lots of ideas and inspiration. They are suitable for anyone, from those who would like to have a go at embroidery but are maybe not sure where to begin, to experienced sewers.
You can bring your own project to work on or come along and discuss ideas with me during the session; or look at the wide range of samples at the class for ideas. Everyone will work at their own pace.
The barn is a beautiful grade two listed heritage, arts & natural history centre with a lovely on-site cafe. We are based in the courtyard room on the ground floor which is warm, light and overlooks the courtyard & cafe. There is disabled access & toilets close by. Free parking is available in the Sainsbury’s car park through the nature garden at the rear of the barn.
The cost is £20 per session. You can come for a one off session or book specific dates during the half term. If you pay for a half term block you will receive a £10 discount. A half term is usually from 5-8 weeks.
I have over twenty years of experience working as a textile artist and will be offering lots of support, information and ideas to help you with an existing project or something new. I can also help you to get the most out of your machine and set up for free-machine embroidery.
