Course Start DatesSaturday 14th March 2020
About the Course
This workshop will explore how food waste destined for the compost can actually colour your wardrobe.
The course price includes 2.5 hours of guided tuition, use of all materials including dyes/fabric and refreshments.
We will be using pomegranate rinds, onion skins and avocado stones to create beautiful colours on fabric. Lucy will go through the basics of how to properly scour your fibres, prepare and then create a dye bath. We will use samples of linen, wool and cotton to discover how different fibres soak up the dyes, and play with colour modifiers.
Plant dyes are magic to work with and very addictive so you will hopefully leave the class with a lifelong hobby! You will leave the workshop with a journal of samples, info sheets with recipes and the confidence to start your own dye baths at home. This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and no previous experience is necessary.
Tea, coffee and biscuits or cake will be available throughout the session. Spaces are limited to ensure you receive as much guidance as you need so we shall have a maximum number of 6 students per session.
Please note that places on our workshops are non-refundable but are transferrable to a friend.
