About the Course
Learn to work confidently with flowers to create displays for friends, family, various occasions and the home. All levels welcome, whether you are a beginner or more experienced and would like to refresh your skills. Basic materials are provided, but you will need to bring your own flowers and foliage from the second week - the tutor will give guidance on this.
Who is this course for
Anyone who wants to learn the basics of floristry and more advanced students who want to brush up on their techniques or work more independently with the support of a tutor.
You will need to have some dexterity in your hands and fingers, however additional support is available if required - please contact the department for advice.
What does this course cover
How to prepare and care for a range of flowers and foliage for use in floristry.
You will practice a range of traditional and contemporary techniques in floral design and create arrangements for different occasions, seasons, friends and family or just for pleasure.
You will also learn about the other materials you'll need for floristry and safe working practices.

From week 2 you will need to buy your own flowers and foliage - the tutor will advise you on the types of flowers and foliage to purchase each week and where to do this at a reasonable cost.
