About the Course

Woodland Squirrels Needle Felting Workshop

Fibre artist Carla Taylor of The Mousehole Woolery will guide you step by step through the techniques of needle felting. This technique uses special barbed needles to repeatedly stab and sculpt wool fibres together to create 2 & 3D forms, transforming beautiful loose sheeps' fleece into your own unique woodland squirrel.

On this one day workshop, Carla will share with you lots of tips and tricks she has learnt along the way. You will learn to build individual shapes, join shapes together using felting needles and your hands to mould, shape and sculpt the wool. There will also be demonstrations of the principles of building and covering wire armatures.

By the end of the workshop you will have created your own woodland squirrel ready for you to take home.

Suitable for both beginners and those with some experience of needle felting.

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

What's included in the price?

The price of the workshop includes the booking fee and all materials and a needle felting kit, that you get to keep, take home and carry on creating with.

Fisherton Mill is the largest independent Gallery complex in the south and has an onsite, award winning, Cafe on the ground floor. The Gallery Café's varied menu changes to suit the seasons and the recipes often use fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Pop in for a coffee, a cup of tea and a piece of cake, or something more substantial either before or after your workshop.

There is always something delicious to choose from - for lunch, try a generously filled sandwich or something warm, such as some hearty soup in winter, or a healthy salad in the summer, all washed down with a glass of wine, some elderflower or home-made minty limeade.
